Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and RENSIC ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the RENSIC platform, website (forensicmarket.example), or any trustless smart contracts associated with the RENSIC protocol (the "Service"), you agree that you have read, understood, and accept all of the terms and conditions contained herein.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY CEASE ALL USE OF THE SERVICE.

2. Eligibility & Verification

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are not a resident of, or located in, any jurisdiction subject to comprehensive U.S. or international sanctions (e.g., Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or the Crimea region).

Institutional Users: If you are entering into these Terms on behalf of a legal entity (such as a University, NGO, or Corporation), you represent that you have the legal authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

3. Accounts & Security

Access to certain features requires account registration. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

• Truthfulness: You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
• Identity Verification (KYC): RENSIC may, at its sole discretion, require identity verification (Know Your Customer) or institutional accreditation before allowing participation in specific high-priority missions.
• Wallet Security: You are solely responsible for the security of your private keys and seed phrases. RENSIC never has access to your private keys and cannot recover lost funds due to compromised security.

4. Platform Roles & Obligations

4.1 Mission Strategists

Strategists are the architects of inquiry. By posting a mission, you agree to provide clear, scientific, and ethically sound protocols. You are responsible for ensuring that your research goals do not violate any applicable laws or ethical standards for human/environmental research.

4.2 Citizen Researchers

Researchers act as field agents. You agree to strictly adhere to the Research Protocols provided by the Strategist. You acknowledge that failure to follow protocol or providing fraudulent data will result in the forfeiture of rewards and potential permanent exclusion from the platform.

4.3 Citizen Funders

Funders provide the capital necessary for investigations. You acknowledge that funding a mission is a supportive act and does not guarantee a specific scientific outcome. Staked funds are locked in escrow and subject to the success/failure conditions of the smart contract.

5. Smart Contracts & Escrow

The Service utilizes decentralized smart contracts to automate the holding and release of funds. You acknowledge that:

• Trustless Nature: Funds are held by a program, not a person. Release is triggered by "Verification Oracles" (AI triage, peer review, and Board review).
• Finality: Transactions on the blockchain are irreversible. RENSIC cannot "roll back" a payout once the protocol conditions have been met and the contract has executed.
• Network Fees: All interactions with the blockchain may incur transaction fees ("gas") which are non-refundable and paid to the network miners/validators, not RENSIC.

6. The 98% Rule & General Pool

Donations to the General Escrow Pool are governed by the "98% Rule." Funds from this pool are exclusively used to bridge the gap for missions that reach at least 98% of their funding goal but expire before reaching 100%.

Board Discretion: All General Pool allocations require a formal review and approval by the RENSIC Board to ensure mission validity and integrity. Donation to this pool is non-refundable and constitutes a gift to the protocol's mission survival fund.

7. Digital Assets & Blockchain Risks

By using the Service, you acknowledge the inherent risks associated with digital assets and blockchain technology:

• Volatility: The value of cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, USDC) is highly volatile. Payout values in USD terms may fluctuate significantly between the time of staking and the time of payout.
• Regulatory Risk: Blockchain technology and digital assets are subject to evolving regulations. Changes in law may impact your ability to use the Service or access your assets.
• Software Risk: While we utilize audited smart contracts, software may contain bugs. You use the Service at your own risk.

8. Prohibited Conduct

Users are strictly prohibited from:

• Violating any local, state, or international law during field research.
• Submitting fraudulent or AI-generated data misrepresented as original forensic evidence.
• Attempting to interfere with the integrity of the voting or verification systems.
• Harassing other researchers or stakeholders.

9. Intellectual Property

Mission Data: Unless specified in a custom mission contract, research data is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) license upon reward payout, allowing for public audit while protecting the original researcher's non-commercial rights.

Platform IP: The RENSIC interface, brand, and proprietary verification algorithms remain the exclusive property of RENSIC.

10. Disclaimers & Assumption of Risk

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

Forensic Disclaimer: RENSIC provides infrastructure for data collection and verification. We do not provide legal advice, medical advice, or definitive forensic conclusions. Users are responsible for how they interpret and use mission results.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RENSIC AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR FUNDS, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF THE SERVICE.

12. Governing Law & Arbitration

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the RENSIC Foundation is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be settled by final and binding arbitration.
